The local Rotary Club hosted an event to raise awareness for their club, and to raise funds to use for local projects. An Eco-Chic Fashion Show seemed right up our alley….we had no idea what we were getting into!
Stage decorations made from Recycled materials
The power was out all over town, so these were even more fun & very practical, since they provided light
Eventually the venue was able to get enough generator power going to start the show – Bright lights and Loud music…
The MC’s (We all loved her skirt!)
Folkloric Dancers – Featuring the culture of the Caribean coast of Nicaragua
The girls were so funny with their running commentary – with their 4-H background in fashion, they are all such experts!
The first designer was not a favorite of the Borden judging team – unanimously decided, her fashions were merely white ribbon “Decorate your Duds” material – OUCH!
The 2nd designer was good – way more creative in her use of materials. And also a little harder to look at on her very sexy models.
We were temporarily distracted from the models by a lone grasshopper on the runway. Sadly, he didn’t make it…
This was actually one of the girls favorites
This one was made from one of those orange vests – you know the reflective ones the guys working on the roads have on
Finally, the finale!
Mirna (dark top) is Mayra’s sister (one of our teachers). She designed and made all of the models jewelry for the night. It was fantastic! She makes a lot of her pieces out of found objects. Super creative, and very beautiful!
Olivea on the runway – she actually won a shirt made by one of the designers for this…sorta silly, but way fun too! We were all so surprised when they called for audience volunteers and off she went!
